All 18 Finalists Deserve To Be Miss Nigeria 2018 – But Only One Can Wear The Crown At Sunday’s Grand Finale

While all the 18 ladies that were shortlisted as the finalists for the grand finale of the Miss Nigeria 2018 have all it takes to win the crown, only one will be succeeding the present queen, Mildred Ehiguese, at Sunday’s grand finale.

Ehiguese won the 2017 edition.

The event is scheduled to hold tomorrow (November 25) at the Eko Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites Victoria Island, Lagos.

The 18 finalists, who were picked from 40 contestants, who were pre-selected from the auditions held nationwide in Lagos (West), Owerri (East) and Abuja (North) in October, were unveiled on November 12, at an event that took place at the 7 Square Restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos state.

The project coordinator of Miss Nigeria 2018, Chioma Nwigwe, while speaking on the selection process, said:

“This year’s selection though gruelling has been very rewarding. Beyond their looks, every single one of these incredible ladies brings something unique to the table and we can’t wait to see which of them wins the crown”.

Speaking ahead of the beauty pageant, the organisers said the pageantry emerged in 1957: “in response to the realisation that given the right platform, young Nigerian women could positively influence society, drive positive change and inspire other young women both in the country and across the continent.

“Hence, the organisation has consistently selected young women who are beautiful, intelligent, socially responsible, and committed to service to humanity

“The Miss Nigeria position is a job and the title bearer actively champions causes that benefit and promote society. Our target areas are Education, Environment, Arts & Culture, Financial Management and Health.

“On this basis therefore, we constantly look out for exemplary leadership qualities, intellectual depths and passion in aspiring queens. We value fairness and transparency as our winners always emerge through fair, standardized and transparent process.”
